Default Shift Knob, How do you remove?

I'm trying to install a Tuffy Security Insert. My console is the base model, one piece unit. So it must be removed for special sawing.
The dealer will not tell me how the knobs are removed.
And Chrysler info says they just screw off. But after applying tremendous torque, I don't believe they screw-off
Can anyone tell me how to remove the transfer case shift knob?

The transfer case knob -- pull up real hard... seriously.

Otherwise, I have an auto, so don't know how for the other knob.

x4. But, here's straight from the service manual:
On 4x4 vehicles grasp the transfer case shifter knob and pull straight up and remove the knob.

Talking The project is again on track

Thanks for the advice everyone. Hard to believe the dealer’s mechanics and the manufacturer could not help me on this question. The transmission knob came off very easy. But the transfer case knob had to have a rope tied to it and get pulled off with a weight, dent puller style. It still took a lot to get it off.
