I'm not 100 % but I believe the computer controls this based on your speed/rpm's. In addition to tire size/gear changes I would recommend a flashpaq so you can set up your tire size and gear ratio with the computer.

I've regeared my automatic and I'm using a Flashpaq, haven't messed with the shift points but it seems to be fine.

You can buy a programer to help correct this quick. The programers let you chose your gear ratio and tires size and it will automatically put your shift points back to stock. I know superchip does being I own one myself. I regeared to 5.38's when I changed to 37 in tires. on my way home my shift points were all messed up! My friend is a programer for superchips and he told me to change the gear ratio and tire size and it knows what to do with shift points. Problem fixed for me! Night and day it made!
