Shock boots? Run em or no?

youll notice however that most shocks that come with boots are in fact covers and not boots and they open at one end allowing debri and water to escape, the accordion rubber type boots trap debris and water in causing extra wear.

not true at all, most stock vehicles including the JK come with shocks that have "dust shields". these are completely open on the bottom and do NOT trap in water, mud, salt, gunk or debris. there is a BIG difference between the two but, you can believe what you want to believe.

I've been schooled Dust shields are what I had in mind. Never considered that full boots would let crap in and keep it in there.

I run FOX Shock and per FOX, they say NO boots....

Boots sucks. I think they are only good to run if you remove and rebuild your shocks regularly (racing shocks/coilovers) and are just protecting the shafts from being chipped from high velocity racing debris, mainly rocks.

I cut them off of my 5100's with the mind set that the shocks would be junk before the seals started leaking.

no no, especially if you play in mud/water a lot- boots do more harm than good
