Default Shock question!!!!!!!

I installed new Bilstein 5100s on my 2012 JkU yesterday. Well today when I was ordering the steering stabilizer, i decided to verify that the shocks 4 Wheel Parts sold me in store were correct.... (should have done that before install) Well turns out the fronts are correct (2.5-3.5" lift) but the rears are for a 4-5" lift..... Should I exchange them asap? Or is there a hidden benfit to having the longer shocks? Thanks in advance.

The benefit will be more travel/flex. You may however need to extend brake lines, add bump stops, etc. I just swapped out my 5100's for 3" lift for Fox remote res 4"-5" lift so I could get max travel.

Thanks for the quick response! I don't really do any rock crawling or anything. Mostly beach and trails. So I guess I can just leave them and check the droop amount?

I'd leave them in case you decide to lift your jeep more. Just if you do go crawling where you'll be articulating the suspension, the rear could stuff your tires pretty far into your wheel well. Should be good though, for peace of mind you could add bump stops, they're affordable and easy to install.

Without spring retainers, you can run into "a bit" of a problem if your extra long shock drops and the short spring pops out.

I also believe the longer shock will have different compression/rebound characteristics.

Well today I picked up the 5100 series stabilizer and also decided to keep the rear shocks. I am going to be getting the Evo plush ride 3" coils in a week or two and will install coil clips when I install those coils. Thanks for the advice guys
