Default Shock Relocation Brackets - top or bottom?

Hey all - I need to re-locate my shocks in front due to some rubbing. I see that Rough Country makes one that mounts in the top of the shock tower (bolt in), and there are a few manufacturers that make some that mount on the axle side as well - some weld-in, some bolt-in. (Metal Cloak, Synergy, EVO, etc) Any thoughts as to if either is better or worse, or brand name preference on the lowers?

Thanks for the help!

Nemesis Off-road makes lowers that move the shock bottom towards the tire which helps keep the shock body from rubbing the frame rail at full droop. I run these and am happy with them. They are bolt on, but I welded them as well just because.

x2 on Nemisis. Not sure how much it helps, but these also rotate the bottom of the shock 90 degrees which supposedly reduces the bind on the shock grommet as the axle droops.

Thanks guys, for the responses! I checked out their web site - those are pretty pricey! Interesting "twist" on rotating that, though - wonder if it gets more play moving that way, or the other as the axle moves front to back on droop/compression?

I was mainly wondering if anyone has experience moving the top out -vs- moving the bottom out on the shock?

Nemesis is the only set i know of that also moves the shock up .5 (just sold a set)
MC and a bunch of others move it out from the frame and are much cheaper.

Are the RC ones the ones that bolt to the rear of the shock tower and simply extend the mount out? I was in the market and came across poor reviews of that style.

Nemesis isn't the only brand that makes that lower bracket and with a welder you could easily make your own.

Yep - those are the ones - I know I could make my own, but was not sure if it was better to do it frame side or axle side. At this point I am leaning towards Axle, just because RC seems to be the only one that makes one that goes in the tower - all the others are axle-based. The only review I had found for the RC's was a single one on Amazon that said they broke on the person.

Anyway - thank you for the info - I appreciate it!

Stay away from Rough Country. Going cheap aint always the answer. Stick with something good. Synergy is my primary go-to if I want a beefy part.

Typically when putting in shock mounts i always have them orientated like that. One straight and one at a 90. Also people typically angle the bottoms out. Especially on coilovers many look for up to 15 degrees.
