Default Shock Reviews/recomendations

I have a RC 2.5" lift with extended ASB links and dropped break lines... so I am looking to replace the front shock extensions with some real shocks... my short list is as follows:

Bilsteins 5100's (15.2" - 25.5")
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16070_202.htm
$80/ea

Or these Rancho RS9000X (15.5" - 25.13")
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16019_005.htm
$100/ea

Or these OME Nitro (15.5" / 26.5")
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16091_006.htm
$83/ea

I've read a review that the OME's will give a better ride (and more travel) then the adjustable Rancho's so I am leaning away from the Ranchos. This is my DD so street ride means more to me then off road ride - but travel is priceless.

Any comments of the Bilsteins vs. OME's?

Thanks...

I am loving my Bilstein 5100 series. Firm, but conrolled-- a very nice ride, espcially on the trail. And enough droop to tear my driveshaft boot off.

Pics here.

Which model Bilsteins did you get Doojer? I think I will end up with a set of 5100s and was thinking of getting the ones for a 3" or 4" lift even though I only have a 2.5" BB for now. I am probably going to add 2.5" springs later on....so I will likely end up getting longer bumpstops to keep from bottoming out the shocks, but I will get more droop....sound right?

[QUOTE=2k2wranglerx;529234]i don't understand why people run $100.00+ shocks

Ok, you talked sense into me... I ended up getting Trailmaster SSVs for the front with 15.4-26.4" travel! Hell yeah! And Rancho RS5000s for the rear 15.1-26.6" of travel! Hell yeah! So for under $200 I got all 4 shocks with just about the max travel I could get. I'll let you know how it rides once I get them on and I'll be wheeling with them on the 15th. Update to follow.

I'm running the 3" 5100's that come with the FT 3" lift. When I was running the stock shocks with extenders, they were the limiting factor. The new shocks provide a lot more droop, hence the torn shock boot.

The 5100's will run you a little less than that.

Well, now that you mention it...

I just installed the 3"FT with Bilstein 5100s. What is the torn boot problem?
