Default Shocking Decision

Trying to decide on a good shock that will match well with EVO Plush Ride 4" springs. Looking to run 37's on my JKU and I'm considering Rancho 7000's, 9000XL's or FOX 2.0 Smooth Body Evolution Series.

Any opinions or others to look at. Trying to stay within a reasonable budget.

I have 7000's and not thrilled with how fast they fade on higher speed washboard roads. They do great on street and in slow going type offroad but last about 2 miles on washboards and disappear. I am on my second set and second set is the same as the first. Rancho has a great warranty.

Fox is always a good option. We took a liking to the way the Rock Krawler RRD shocks ride. If you would like any pricing send us a pm.

My neighbor had that same lift with bilsteins. It seemed to ride like most other jeeps ive been in the plushness didnt stand out to me. For a soft street ride one if our club members has the 9000s. They are set soft on road and turn them up offroad seemed to do ok...

It's just amazing the varied opinions on shocks. I do realize it is a very subjective issue.
The only complaint I have with my current 9000's is how the shafts have "blued" which tells me they get hot. They still work and ride nice.

I have the Bilstein5100's and know lots of people that run them. Mine have taken a pounding and last forever,5 years now on the same set.

Why does that tell you it gets hot? Sounds like something more to due with the nitride coating than a heat issue. Not saying one way or the other, but I wouldn't say that is the issue without talking to Rancho about it.

That's interesting. I have the king adjustable shocks and adjust them opposite. I run soft off road and firm on the street. Now, I don't go bombing through the desert like I own a Raptor. On the street I set them firm for Ortega Hwy and the curves.

To each his own. Soft offroad makes no sense unless pure crawling or you have hydraulic bumps. Firm onroad also baffles me as my jeep is not a track car... But all depends on eaches definition of soft and firm...
