Anyone have any ideas about great shocks in the 100-200 dollar range???? preferably adjustible??? I have a friend who has some OME's but I was thinking of remote FOX's maybe if they arent very much to take care of. Any Ideas?

Can I ask why you're not set on the OME's? Not too many "adjustable" shocks out there, and frankly, there isn't much need for them on the typical JK. Any quality shock will give you more than enough performance without the need for adjustability.

Keep OME on your list. Also, look at Bilstein. Both are outstanding shocks for the money.

Welcome to the forum!
King offers a shock that's ready to bolt on. I would also second the Bilsteins.

What type of build are you doing? It is one thing going with OME or Bilsteins. It is a whole different beast when you start to consider King or Fox.

Personally I think adjustable shocks are a marketing ploy. Really good shocks sense the speed that the piston is traveling and adjust themselves to compensate. They are smooth on smooth roads, and they firm up on rough roads. I'm a big bilstein fan, but Kind and fox also make really good shocks.
What ever you do make sure to get high pressure gas. Many of the highly marketed brands are low pressure gas. With low pressure gas shocks, the oil over heats and starts to foam and then they are useless. The high pressure gas won't let the oil foam ( and boil) so it works at much higher temps. If you have ever touched your shock after running down a washboard road, you will know that it can burn your hand.

If you are really working your shocks that hard consider a remote reservoir unit from King, Fox or Bilstein in that order. You can buy some of them for less than $200 each and they are works of art.

Rancho makes an adjustable shock with remote control. It's a bit of a gimmick IMO, but to each their own.

Default don't get ProComp MX6 adjustable shocks

i'm looking as well. Whatever you do don't get ProComp MX6 Shocks. The Boots ripped 1st month i had them, leaking oil, they've rusted, bushings continuously pop out, and 4wheelparts refuses to replace under warranty.

i was looking at teraflex shocks, they run a little over $200 for a set, and know teraflex has awesome customer service and will stand behind their product.

OME, Bilstien, and some of the others are great if you offroad a lot but you'll spend a few extra bucks for them too.

Think my next shock will be teraflex simply becasue of their customer service, and other product i've received from them has exceeded expectations. for example their "4" inch lift is actually a 5 inch plus.

if you decide you want Procomp MX6's i'll give you a great deal on a set of 4! LOL

I don't have any experience with fox shocks on a JK. But I've been running fox forks on my mountain bikes for years. I'm not sure if the experience will translate, but here is what I can tell you. Fox makes some awesome stuff! In my opinion Fox products are in a completely different league then there next closest competitor (in the fork world).

At least with Fox forks, I wouldn't call them consumer grade. They need to be rebuilt fairly often. I plan on rebuilding them every 2 years or so at about 1/3rd the cost of the original fork. They are a lot more complex and thus there is much more to go wrong with them then a plain old consumer grade sealed unit. On one fork I had some issues that were really tough to track down because of that added level of complexity. Even the Fox techs struggled with it. I'm not sure if this is also true with shocks for a JK but it's something to ask about.

With that being said, seeing a fox fork rapidly stroking over its full travel as you bomb over rocks the size of watermellons and your bike hardely moves is a beautiful sight.

OME are great shocks. I had them on my TJ and now on my JK, very happy with them.

I am very happy with my OME's. Great performance both off road and on pavement.
