Default Which Should I buy for better Engine Cooling?

Ive been reading how our JKs have damaging heat buildup under the hood.

I want some votes on what to do about it.

Thanks in advance.

Best way to keep heat from building up is to not run the ac when wheeling. Make sure there is no mud in the radiator fins. And if you have the auto tranny it might be a good idea to get a larger cooler for it.

If you are wheeling in a very hot environment then do like the army does when you stop for a break, open the hood and let it breath.

Can you provide any empirical evidence any of this is needed?

If you have wheeled a JK in summer temps then... You've probably seen the tranny light come on especially in 4H. I HAVE. I suggest tranny cooler. I'm thinking of adding one soon. Exhaust can help cool the engine bay too.

At what point does a preponderance of anecdotal evidence become empirical?

Tranny cooler only. The rest won't really help on a practical basis.

The OP has 22" rims and lives in Detroit. I was looking for evidence that he was having temps issues such as data logging or idiot lights and under what conditions he might be experiencing these temp issues.

Reading about issues and having issues are not the same thing. I read about forum members getting 20+ mpg, unfortunately I don't experience those either.

Tranz cooler will help will the "HOT OIL" light, but not that much for engine bay temps. I'd run some louvers, like the ones from run-cool http://www.quadratec.com/products/13106_100X_PG.htm. would be cheaper then the AEV hood.

I live in Arizona and have an automatic in my JK. I added a tranny cooler. I've had no other heat issues wheelin in the hotter temps of AZ.
