It's just how it came, I believe it is like that in order to fit the Warn Powerplant

I spoke with Nick about this shortly after the bumper showed up online. He confirmed that because of the winch fitting between the frame rails, the fairlead opening had to be offset. Just a case of form following function.

Well can't say that I agree with doing that, seems like only 5-10% would actually be running the powerplant. Should have been optional but its not a big deal. Its still the best looking bumper imo.

I'm not sure I like that offset. so, I guess I need to see if that can be changed.

well I just got a message back from Jim at shrockworks explaining why it is offset and after looking at my LoD (which has it centered on the bumper) im beginning to think that shrockworks made a good decision by placing it directly in front of the spool. I didn't even notice it untill now anyways. Function over form.

Jim is correct that the optimal position of the apature should be offset and in-line with spool. As far as the LoD bumper goes, you can request to have it offset as well to be in-line as well.

Winches are not built symmetrical...i.e. the spool not in the middle of a winch. A 9500 lb winch just BARELY fits b/t the frame rails on a JK....this is not limited to the Powerplant. Once you drop a winch b/t the frame rails, the SPOOL itself is off center and it is impossible to move the winch further toward the passenger side bec the frame is there. We center the fairlead on the spool as it should be for proper safety and performance. It you want it in the middle, you're going to have to go with a bumper that mounts the winch above the frame. ...or one that mounts the fairlead off-center to the spool.

Our feeling is that the benefits of dropping the winch into the frame outweigh this minor cosmetic thing...performance comes first. FWIW, in all pics of our bumper, it is offset. It's just more noticeable when it's an empty hole than with a fairlead and winch mounted. I might make an offset Lisc plate mount for people w/o a winch if it bugs a lot of people.
