Default shrockworks rock slider question....

what is the difference between the shrockworks rock sliders for the 2 door JK with a body lift and the ones for without the body lift?

if i were contemplating a body lift in the future, but not sure yet, should i get the ones made for the body lift now, or would they not fit for some reason?

any chance someone has some pics to show the difference between the two?

also, are the 2 door sliders as difficult to install as i hear the 4 door version can be? i'm a bit of a screw-up when it comes to pain-in-the-ass bolts (like what i've read about the rear bolt on the driver's side)!

Unless you already have a body lift, you cant install the BL version, so get the std version. The std version on a Jeep with a BL will just sit an inch lower than it would have if you had the BL version. No big deal. It's still 2" higher than the bottom of the frame.

How is it attathced to the frame. Bolt-on obviously, but do the bolts go all the way through the frame? I noticed when i looked under the Jeep it would be difficult in some spots to have the bolts go all the way through? Any pics available of the mounting?

I'm not a mechanically inclined person (spatial reasoning yes, but that's a different subject). Once I got a functioning drill I had no problems with the installation. Having two people is handy, but not necessary. I did it myself that should be enough said.

Here's my post about the rails: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/shrockworks-rocks-rails-2-door-13136/

They don't go all the way through. The front uses one large with a strap nut. The rear uses two self-tapping bolts. They also wrap under and bolt to existing locations -- gas tank skidplate and cross member on the one side. Cannot remember exactly on the other. But, it's obvious.

It is an easy install to figure out. The sliders just bolt up to the front and then there are those three holes (on each side) that get drilled in the frame to connect the rear. I think that the portion of the frame that you drill into is hardened steel. It took me about 4 hours per side to install, most of the time spent drilling the holes. It went way faster after a trip to the hardware store to buy good quality drill bits. The Unibit didn't work for me, I ended up drilling out the holes a 64th at a time. Make sure you read the installation write-up thats posted on this site.

After the job of drilling those holes is done you are going to be very happy with the installation and performance of them.

The unibit was a huge time saver for me.

you either had a shitty bit, drill, or both.
It takes maybe 3 minutes to drill a 1/8 pilot and another 3 for a 1/2 with good bits and drills.
