Default Side Armor - drill?

Who has had to install this type of side armor (see pic)? Did you have to drill or is there something I'm missing (some place to bolt-on)?

It should say in the instructions, but it looks to me like time to break out the ol' drill.

I did a search on here but didn't see anything. Although another one had a different mounting setup.

If I don't hear from anyone I guess I'm going to start drilling.

Did you buy this used? Were there no instructions? I would be a bit concerned that it might be for a TJ or something if it was not obvious where/how it attached. Contacting the manufacturer for instructions would be high on my to-do list.

Hell, can't be that hard, set um against the frame and see if they fit flush use some big C-clamps to hold it on , mark holes, drill for proper size self tapping bolts and should be good to go. That's the way nerf bars went on my CJ anyway. Check both sides before you drill as they may mount differently on the opposite side.

I have them, and yes you have to drill. You will need a good bit, I burned out 4 or 5.

There was an install thread on them a little while ago, I can't seem to find it. But it is just as basic as it looks. Outside of getting a good bit to drill with, I would also suggest getting better bolts then what came with it, they will break off.

I don't know if you bought these used or not, but they are the JCW sliders. I got them because they are cheap. They were selling new for under $200 and I didn't mind beating the crap out of them. They will do the job, but as you can see in the pic you posted, the welds are bad and they don't exactly have a great quality to them. But for the cost I couldn't say no.

Edit:
I found one of the threads for you:

Thanks guys.
I just went to Home Dumbo and they didn't have a thick gauge self-drill, self-tap bolt.
Was anyone successful in a box store?

For rock rails/sliders you really don't want to use self tapping bolts/screws. It will pull out. Get the nuts, most auto stores have them (and the self tapping screws)
