Default Simple maintenance question.

Now that I have lifted my jeep a bit and replace the arms, sway bar links, etc..
I need a grease gun and grease to keep these things healthy, I have only been able to get "red stuff" and "anything good" as recommendations.

I went to a hardware site and found a simple, single hand pump type, gun and this "Mobil Multipurpose Grease, XHP 222, 14.1 oz"

Anyone have better suggestions? Other than a flexible hose and something that works well with poly and rubber bushings any tips?

You're asking which grease to use?

I use Lucas Red n Tacky. It's the best I can find in the local autoparts stores. Amsoil has one that is popular. White Lithium (not sure if that is the brand or just the color and content?) is also popular. There are many good greases out there, just look at the specs listed on the container before purchasing. High heat rating is good, and some type of water resistance, and lithium base, and whatever else.

But honestly, I think that frequent greasing is more important than the name on the tube. If you never bother to go near those zerks, it just doesn't matter what grease is in the joint...

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. This is my first time after all.
I know it sounded like a trivial issue but I could not find sufficient info. Do most folks lube with their oil changes or more base it on how hard the jeep is thrashed?

Every oil change is good. If you do alot of mud and water when wheelin, grease after that too. It'll push all the grime out.

Not trivial, I just wasn't sure exactly what you were asking.

Greasing every oil change is a great habit to get into, though I really doubt that the majority of people do it that often. And yes, if you get into mad and water, it would be a good idea to check and re-grease after each run.

A basic grease gun with a flexible hose is all you really need, unless you have some oddball stuff you need to grease.
-the center ball in the aftermarket double cardan driveshafts has a needle zerk, which will need a special adapter to grease.
- a needle fitting (much smaller than the fitting for the needle zerk in the DS) is useful for getting grease into the boot on the steering shaft if you run into the dreaded 'clunk'.
