Skid plate
Looking at getting a rough country hybrid stubby bumper but I want a skid plate to protect my sway bar disco, anyone have any idea if any of the front skid plates would work ?
|
Assuming you're talking about the Rubicon and the electronic swaybar disco? If you are, I believe I've read on many occasions numerous members relocating the motor for it. I myself don't have one, I do it manually. However, like I said - I believe many members have moved that thing so it's not so much in the way.
To answer your question, I have never come across a skid plate solely for the purpose of protecting the swaybar disconnect. |
Rugged Ridge makes one specifically for the swaybar motor. I've had mine on since 2010 but I have it paired with my RR front bumper. I've heard it fits with other bumpers but I don't know the RC one you are looking at. If you have a pic, I could probably tell if it will fit.
I'll try and find a pic of the skid on my Jeep so you can see it. |
Here are some pics. The skid is super heavy duty and has taken a ton of abuse on the rocks. These pics are when it was new. What you can;t see is how it wraps around the back to cover the motor. It completely protects it but at the expense of easy access to the fog lights! PITA to replace a bulb!!!

This is a very heavy duty skid I have hit several times and the skid rocks.
It comes with two brackets that mount under the sway bar bracket. And it has two locations to mount onto the lower frame the Bumper seats on. Although I'm only using one of Those. |
