Default skid plate advice

Hi everyone,

I tried to do a few searched on the forum but couldn't find the newbie answers I was looking for. If there is another thread already adressing my questions please just let me know and I'll be more than willing to go through the threads that already exist - I just wasn't able to find them when i did a couple of searches.

I saw a thread about what skid plates/armour to get when rock crawling but i won't be doing much of that.

I do plan on hitting some rock (not full on rock crawling)

More over, I'll be in a lot of mud and dried up dirt with obstacles that require more crawling on hilly dirt and such. I'd say the trails up my way (Ontario, Canada) don't rqeuire a lot of rock crawling.

I'm just trying to figure out what kind of skid plates I should be looking to get to protect my rig. I know I should be looking into some DIFF covers and something to protect my steering components but I'm unsure about what else I'd necessairly need. Would someone be willing to help me out?

Perhaps even suggesting any brands of skids you're running that work well for you would help.

Here is my set up:
3.5" aev nrth degree premium lift on 35" rubber and jks quicker disconnects...

I don't think any other info would be needed....If so, just let me know.

Thanks in advance.

coming from someone who does play a lot on the rocks, i can assure you that you don't really need any aftermarket skid plates on your 2008 jk unlimited 6-speed. for the kind of wheeling you'll be doing, at most, i would recommend an oil pan skid like the kind evo mfg or rancho makes but, that's about it. the factory skids are more than adequat and have yet to let me or anyone i know down.

Also an evap skid or relocation kit would be good to have and not expensive

This was my assumption as I've been offroad plenty already with no issues. Just wasn't sure if I had gotten "lucky"

The one thing i Have noticed is that my factory skid plates are banged up pretty well so they're doing their jobs!

in addition, my exhaust is just chunky and in the way so I'm thinking the MBRP offroad exaust may solve that issue pretty well.

THanks for your help guys.

I know with mine the cross over pipe is in front of the cross member without any protection. I ended up going with the Evo kit because it protected that and the oil pan. Plus its very minimal you get the protection where you need it.
