Default Skid Plates

I was wondering which skid plate system you would recommend. These are the three I am looking at:

Trek Off Road

Rock Hard

River Raider

Any suggestions, I eventually would like a long arm kit, does anybody know if any of these would hinder that.

I have the RockHard set-up and I am completely happy with it; the fit is excellent.
It does its job as any 3/16" plate steel will but the RockHards are pretty easy to remove if/when you need to work on things under the skids.
The heavy beveled "washers" thoroughly protect the bolt heads from damage.

I have the River Raider and I like them.I believe they are advertised to work with most long ams

All the other ones should also provide good protection

LOL!! yep, that's my ol' TJ and can tell you that rockhard makes great products. having said that, with the exception of a small rancho oil pan skid, i don't run any aftermarket skids on my JK's. after beating on my white one for almost 3 years now, frequently and very hard, i have found that the factory skids are more than adequate.

I agree with you on this one, I just can't seem to be able to spend money on skids.

Thats interesting! I should have looked at Moby closer when I had the chance, but was more interested in Nemo at the time. Did you ever relocate or shield the Evap Canister? That was the only really vulnerable component that I managed to totally destroy before adding the lift. I have since purchased and installed the Rock Hard Evap skid plate and have never as much as scraped it since.

Sometime in the next few months, however, I will buy the Rock Hard skid plate that protects the oil pan. Cheap insurance and peace of mind for whatever mind I have left.

i have not relocated or shielded the evap and for whatever it's worth, i have knocked mine off 3 times in the past, one of which destroyed it, but haven't touched it once since getting above the 4" of lift and never come close now that i have coilovers. come to think of it, in the almost 3 years of hammering on moby, i've only hit the oil pan hard once and even at that, all it did was give it a little dent and that was way back when we were still sitting on a 3" lift.

thanks for all of the replies, I have lost my factory engine skid somewhere along the way, so now I am looking for a replacement. I might just get a skid for the engine and leave the rest alone.
