Default skid removal

I'm thinking about removing the front skid (plastic) that would cover the sway bar disconnect if I had the Rubi. In addition, I would like to remove the support that hangs down from the frame. Has anyone done this? Is there many reason I shouldn't do this.

Why would you want to cut that bar out?

I guess the main reason I want to remove it Is because I find it unattractive. I just want my jeep to look more like a jeep and less like a minivan. If you remove the plastic, the bracket looks pretty hideous. I do eventually plan to get a bumper, but I like a more traditional style. Until then I think I will get the stubble caps and cut the OEM down a bit.

There is a cross member just behind the radiator. I'm talking about what the bottom of the plastic air dam is attached to. I would think if it was required for the integrity of the frame it wouldn't matter what bumper you put on, it would still need to be there. Not arguing, just hoping someone who has cut it off will chime in.

I would suggest keeping that lower frame bracket in place. Many real skid plates use it as an attachment point.

As to the stubby bumper. Do it! You'll love the look.

it is a crash bar....it is there to keep cars from going under the Jeep in an accident.

Some aftermarket bumpers require it to be removed.
