Default smaller rim than 17" clear calipers?

I am planning on doing 38" tires with a rock crawler 5.5" long arm and tube fenders, just nobody really makes 38's for a 17" rim. will a 15" or 16-16.5" rim clear the calipers on a JK?

I'll be using trailready beadlocks

Lots of people here use 16's so that won't be a problem. Not certain about 15's though.

I run 15x8 with a 3.75 backspacing and they clear, but you gotta hope the wheels balance out close cause if you stack tape weights more than 1 high they'll scrape right off.
