The antenna brace is optional, you do not have to use it. Some lights may not even need it, others might unless you bend the antenna as you can see has been done is some of the other posts.

I have 5 inch faux KC lights and the antenna gently rubs the outside. I put two layers of heat shrink on the antenna and let it do it's thing, no brace. I would rather my lights be "down and out" rather than up and in the way of my vision.

Im going with Hella 500's, and I've ordered the smittybilt windshield mount brackets. Is the antenna going to be in the way? Would the shorty 13" antenna be an option? HELP
