Default smittybilt xrc bumper rattle

hey all

is anyone out there running a xrc rear bumper and still having rattle issues with the tire carrier handle?

i bought this bumper/carrier combo about a month ago, outfitted it to my jeep and have not been able to shake the rattle problems (no pun intended) from the handle. no issues with unlatching or fitment, but every bump in the road gives me a headache. i know this was a problem with some of their old production but was thinking they had put this issue to rest with their newer models.

i'd really like to get this resolved bc aside from the rattle i love the look/build quality of the smitty.

thanks for the help fellas

nope, i'm pretty confident it is the handle. if i really crank the handle tight the sound will stop for about a day.

it just sounds like part of the assembly is loose? there is about 3/32" of play between the handle's fully locked position (snug against both sides of the receiver) and it's current position. just curious if anyone else with the same problem has a crafty solution that i'm too narrow minded to think of?

Hello. I have the same issue. All bolts are locked in place, but it is so loose and rattles too much. What do I do to fix this?

have you adjusted teh tire carrier up or down a bit to increase the clearance of the handle through the bracket? Do you have the supplemental bushing on the handle? Can you snap a picture of the handle and the pin as it passes through the bracket? Often times you just need to adjust the whole carrier up a little so that when the weight of the tire bounces, you don't get metal on metal contact.
