Default SmittyBuilt question

I have been running mad reading reviews of rear bumpers with tire carriers and comparing prices....Then i run accross this on 4wd AND in their magazine i got today in the mail
http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.as...0&partID=10516
http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.as...0&partID=10506
Now obviously they are both pictures on a TJ, i know i know. I really like the first one because of the simple design. So I decided to call the 800 number for 4wd to see what they have to say about ship times for these. The guy says they have been told that shipments will begin in mid November. Kinda dissapointed me but O well.

Then tonight while being bored i decide to finally check out the SEMA pictures. I see the JK and thinking maybe ill see the bumper on a JK finally i check. This is what I find:
http://project-jk.com/wp-gallery2.php?g2_itemId=39894
http://project-jk.com/wp-gallery2.php?g2_itemId=39912
Are these seriously the same bumpers and priced on 4wd??? If so that looks like a to good to be true situation. Anyone know if they are indeed the same? If so ill be getting on the waiting list for the rear bumper for the small price 4wd is asking.

Thoughts?

Not sure but what else could it be? It does seem a little too good to be true. WOL is at SEMA maybe someone can contact him and have him check it out.

Well, it's close. But keep in mind, I ordered the front in April In May or June, they raised the price to reflect the new JK design. However, I'm still waiting on the bumper, and here it is November. Buit it finally shipped, so I'm in the home stretch. The price for the rear WILL go up. And I wouldn't expect them before January at the earliest, no matter what 4WD says.

Oh, and some of the pictures are the SRC, while some are the XRC series.

yeah i figured it would be to good to be true. I mean thats a badass bumper for the $350 or w/e price tag 4wd has on it. And i know several people who have been waiting forever for the bumper and i am looking to have a bumper by christmas.

Guess its back to my choices of LoD or HighRock. Any opinion on those? Are LoD shipping good now?

i've had the classic rear bumper with tire carrier on order through 4wd for about 3 months now. when i ordered it was $339 with free shipping. i've contacted 4wd and Smittybilt several times since then asking for dates, pics, etc. the latest news is that the classic rear bumpers are supposed to be at 4wd on 11/16 at which point they'll ship. but i've heard this several times so i'm not too excited. however, some people have said that their SRC bumpers have started shipping so that is promising.

I REALLY like the look of these bumpers...

(not that my opinion counts too much, lol)

But, the SRC rear bumpers (bumper only, and with tire carrier) are, imho very good, and very clean looking. They fit the truck nice, and I like the shape of them. I like the LoD rear bumpers, as well as some others, but look at the price...LoD's site has their rear bumper with tire carrier on it for $700 plus shipping (don't know if it's cheaper elsewhere). Then look at the Smittybilt JK rear bumper and tire carrier on 4WD.com - almost 300 cheaper! Sounds like a deal to me...

The Smittybilt front bumpers look great, too! I think that a lot of the front bumpers out there just don't look completely fitting on the truck. There are a few, but a lot of them just don't appeal to me, looks wise. The SRC and new XRC Smittybilt bumpers are a whole other story. Again, I LOVE the look and fit of them. The SRC bumper is hot, but I am curious about the price on the XRC front bumper for the JK.

All in all, some GREAT looking products. 99.9% sure that those are going on my JK when the time for lift, tires, etc. comes!

GOOD WORK SMITTYBILT!

DON'T DO IT! I had Smitty stuff on my TJ and it was garbage. Their powdercoat blows and their stuff rusts to beat the band. IMO, Smitty & Olympic = CRAP!!!!!! You get what you pay for boys.
