Default Smittybuilt winches

Hello

I am still in the market for a winch and I can't stop wondering what the Smittybuilt winch is actually worth. I know that you get what you pay for for everything in life but is there really a noticeable and important difference between a $300 winch and a $650 one (Superwinch, Warn, etc.) ? Are they good for occasional winching? Do they have a serious drain on the battery (I'd be operating it possibly with a pair of Lightforce 140 lights I bought)?

Also, does anyone actually has any experience with the Smitty winch? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

IIRC the SmittyBuilts are actually built by MileMarker.

They are not built by Milemarker, but they do use some components from MM and from Warn. Anything look similar to the Warn M8000?

I read that entire thread, and found it very informative. The manual that came with mine actually specifies a 5.5 hp Series Wound Motor.
