Default Smittybuilt Winches

I've been seeing ads for an 8000 lb smittybuilt winch all over the net for 299.00. This seems way cheap for an 8000 lb winch. Hell, I paid 450 for a 2500 lb for my ATV.

Anybody got experience with the Smittybuilt? Are the not a good winch, hence the low price?

I have the XRC10 which is the 10,000 pound version. I got it for $369 and thus far I like it. I only installed it 3 weeks ago and I used it once (just playing with it).

I view it as a starter winch and as wheeling and funds allow, I will probably save up for a Warn Power Plant.

I have the XRC8 and am very happy with it. Here is a thread that explains my experiences with it, and I have had several pulls since I wrote that... Not even a hiccup so far...

I have the smittybuilt 8000 lb winch and got the lifetime warranty.

Guys in my 4x4 club also have the same winch with the lifetime warranty.

Guess what none of us have had to use the lifetime warranty but we have had to use the winches.

Right now you can get the 10,000 lb winch with a winch kit worth 100 bucks so you actually get a better deal now than when I bought mine.

bottom line if i were to do it again i would buy smittybuilt.

I have enjoyed mine so far. I did have to replace it because the free spool lever on it wouldn't move anymore, but when my wife bought it for me at 4 wheel parts she was able to get a lifetime warranty option so I got it replaced for free. I was given the option to renew the warranty for the new winch which cost me $35.
