Does anyone have this armor on their jeep and how do you like it?

i have the XRC front and rear bumpers with the src rock sliders / step bars.

The front bumper is heavy as hell and seems very sturdy i like the over all build and i feel cofident that it can take a substancial hit with no issues. it was pretty easy to install only required i trim about half an inch on 2 little tabs on the lower brace it rests up aginst on the bottom lip.

The rear bumper is also heavy and built well but it was a huge bitch to get it to fit right. On the back side it was too close to the body and was goin to make contact so i had to trim about 3/4 of an inch off. I also had to cut the 2 brackets it came with that slide into the jeep frame for added support. Once tightened up they raised the bumper just enough to make contact with the bottom of the tailgate when you opened it. very anoying. Also as a side note if you are buying the rear bumper for your rubi the spare wheel and bumper will make contact and it wont allow you to close your tailgate without some kind of spacer. Smittybuilt knows of this issue but for some reason does not include the bracket / space. also very anoying. I called and bitched so they sent me one out the next day.

The SRC Side steps / rock sliders look nice and seem like they can take a decent hit. not sure if they can take the full weight of the vehicle coming down on them but for light to moderate wheelin ide say they will do just fine. The fitment for these as well as the rest of smitty's stuff seems hit or miss. mine were pretty close the first one went on with little effort the 2nd one took me about an hour and a few passes with my angle grinder and a dremel but they fit nice and look nice as well now.

Over all ide buy them agian i dont mind doing a bit of grinding to get them to fit nice and it gives me a reason to make showers of sparks. For the price of these VS the other stuff i kind of see it as a trade off. Save some money do a little more work spend more money do a little less work .

 

Yeah XRC series front and back.....Definetly feel much more safe...Look badass also...

 

I have the armor on the front and the rear. I love it! It is really strong and looks great! The only downside is that there is very little tire coverage.

 

I thought about that when i bought mine but if you look at the steel support on the stock bumper ( front ) it only extends a little bit on both sides of the frame so the stock steel core support pretty much affords no protection for the wheels either. You only have the plastic pices that extend all the way out and they are so flimsy im pretty sure they afford no protection of any kind against any real impact. The rear bumper is entirely made of plastic so anything made of metal is pretty much an upgrade lol.

 

The fenders are made of steel..

 

X2 for the front and rear....very tough! Only issue I have with the rear is the handle. My tire carrier actually came unlatched one time and thankfully there was nobody behind me. It's a known problem with Smittybilt and they made a bracket to add to it that is suppose to make the latching tighter, but over time it loosens up. Especially if you are on alot of rough roads. The more it rattles the more it loosens up and may come unlatched. I'm always having to push the handle down to make sure it stays latched. It hasn't come unlatched since adding the bracket, but the handle comes very close to unlatching because it has loosened up over time. It comes with 2 billet handles and the first one rattled off somewhere while driving. Luckily I had the second one, which we put locktite on it and it has yet to come off.
