Default Snorkel time!!

ok i no longer want 37's because i tried my friends jeep this weekend and it takes maybe 20 minutes to get to 60 mph with stock gears. Anyway, i know this kind of stuff starts fights for some reason, and I, in no way want to start something. But....

I am looking to buy a snorkel. I have looked at the AEV and the RR.
I am mainly looking for problems on the two.

RR
Cons
-looks like it would be easy to get water into the filter because it runs into the top of the filter box rather than the bottom like the original design. (the tiny factory snorkel that just stick up)
-You have to drill a 3 inch hole in the sheet metal
-There is about 3 feet of extra tubing

Pros
-Made of metal and can be painted to match
- All in hood tubbing
- cleaner look outside of car

AEV
-have to run it along the fender
-have to cut the hood
-all plastic

Pros
-sooooo much cheaper
-uses factory box
-has reversible air ram

I am just looking for opinions from people who have these. My main two concerns are air restriction and letting water into the filter and the engine (imagine that)

I almost forgot, how do these do in the rain? I guess with AEV, you can just turn it around.

the AEV snorkles is by far the most popular one out there for a reason. the price point is right, the install is easy, the look is very factory and it works well. although the food processor thing on top is funny looking, it does do a good job of acting as a pre-filter and collects a lot dust way before getting into your filter. i have a few friends with the AEV snorkle and it's what i would go with if i were to get one.

You don't need to worry about turning the AEV around in the rain. It has slots in the back of the ram top to drain the water out.

Good news: It will work!
Bad news: Now I've gotta come up with $1500!
