I second that choice.

The Nokian Hakkapeliitta LTs are a great choice (softer polymer compound, moderate void ratio, plenty of siping and square block shoulders), although they don't seem very popular in the US, probably due to poor marketing.

The largest size they make is equivalent to a 32" in both 16 and 17" rims.

The KM2s should do better in some snow conditions because their tread for a given nominal size like the popular 35x12.5 is narrower than other tires like the Toyo MTs or the MTZs (both of which I like).

They also have the square shoulder with blocks for cutting through the snow.

The one thing they are missing is siping.

Yokohama Geolander i/t. Comes in a 315/75R16 (34.8") version. This is what I am considering if my Firestone Destination M/T's are that bad. Looks like a pretty good tire:

I have 235 85 16 duratracs on stock steel wheel and love them. Great in slush and snow. Drive 100 miles a day to work .
