Default So what does this mean?

Went on a trail ride this past weekend so I crawl under the JK today just to check things out and find the bottom of my tank skid, (next to the rear diff.) wet with black grease or thick oil. Don't see an obvious leak or anything. Ideas?

Check your driveshaft/cv boots? They tend to tear and throw grease as they spin, especially if you just went wheeling.

nthinuf, beat me by seconds...

That' s what I was thinking but the boot is still good and there isn't any play in the DS. Also, around the boot isn't greasy.

My 1st thought was a DS boot, too, but it's good, huh. Weird. Your diff vent tube didn't come off did it? If it did your diff may have barfed up some fluid there.

Nope. Just double checked. Nothing else is wet and everything (boot, vent tube, ds) seem fine. Freakin' mystery! I know how this works though. The cause will eventually show up!
