Default Soft top

Looking for some input on soft top on long trips. I'm tired of swapping out my hard and soft top for long car trips. Looking to invest in a higher end soft top like sail cloth material but want to see if it really makes a difference in road noise and heat...
Thanks in advanced

The sail cloth doesn't hold a candle to the new premium material. The premium material is much better for noise because it's thicker and tighter than the sail cloth but it doesn't change much in the way of heat.

I've run soft tops since 2009 and wouldn't have it any other way. The premium is absolutely worth the cash. The downfall of the soft top is that you won't be able to pack gear against the window like you would with the hard top. I only pack up to the tub and not even an inch over.

I agree, Premium top is the way to go. I love my soft top. Long trips I put my rainbows on, unless I have the sunrider back or the top down.

A great way to get rid of the flapping noise on the hwy is to turn on ur ventilation. It equalizes the pressure inside the cab. It will get rid of about 90% of the flapping. You will still hear road noises, but it's much more manageable when the top isn't flapping and making its own noises on top of whatever other noises u got going on. That... and crank the radio!!!

Also Hothead Headliners make a soft top headliner that quiets it down and keeps the interior temperature nicer. I haven't tried it but have heard it works pretty good for the noise.

I just added a roof rack and KC lights up top and the flapping at highway speeds was torture. Turning on the fan in the cab works wonders.

Hothead Headliners has a nice solution for soft tops owners. Our soft top headliners cut down sound by blocking sound coming through your soft top & also absorbing the sound that's bouncing around in your Jeep. We sew non-tear radiant barrier in between an 1/8" padded outside fabric & an 1/8" padded inside headliner fabric for a beautiful look and as much temperature control as you can get with a soft top. Our soft top headliners attach your Jeeps roll bar & front header bar so they also work with the Trek Tops.
We are currently have a Spring Sale: Use the discount code "SPRING" to get 15% off all our headliners

Mark,

I don't see how what's pictured can work with my Trektop? My Bestop Trektop NX premium top has a rod inside a sleeve above the sound bar. This rod is fastened to the soundbar with 2 straps that go under the soundbar and hook into holes on the underside of the soundbar. (1 strap is roughly above each front seat headrest, coming down from the top and wrapping to the underside of the sound bar)

The bar these straps cinch down runs accross the top of the soundbar above the front seat headrest.

I don't see how that would work with what you have pictured?

HI,
Here is a link to the YouTube video where I show how & where to make the two small cuts for the straps you're talking about: https://youtu.be/BPk5avqVD7g
