Default Soft Top Confusion

I purchased my jeep with a hard top exactly 1yr ago this week. I have a hard top but am looking to put a soft top on for my upcoming trip to the beach. I have read through several different Threads and checked Craigslist. Since I am new to this I am not sure what I should be looking for and or what parts are essential to put a soft top on my jeep.

Are you looking for a factory soft top or an aftermarket? If you go aftermarket, do your research to make sure it is a kit that comes with all the hardware needed or if it is kit that requires no hardware.

If you are looking at getting a factory soft top, you will need more than just the top and frame. You will need door surrounds, tailgate retainers, and the piece that most used soft tops are missing is the bracket that attaches to top to your sport bars. The good news is you can buy just about every single piece of hardware from many Jeep vendors, but it is much easier just to get them all at one time. When I bought my used soft top, I used this link to make sure I had all the parts I needed.

2 door:
Mopar Soft Top Hardware for Jeep Wrangler JK from Morris 4x4

4 door:
Mopar Soft Top Hardware for Jeep Wrangler Jk Unlimited 4 Door from Morris 4x4

If you find a top and need the other parts, just let me know. Be aware though, that the newer style soft tops had a cable locking system over the front door surrounds...I think it was '11 or '12 and up. The old style had to be tucked under. I have a set of the older style door surrounds for a 2 door, the rear tailgate retainers, and most importantly the brackets with the screws that attaches to the roll bars.

My '11JKU does not have the cables you mentioned but it was made early in the production run for that year.

I was looking at aftermarket kits originally but I am finding that they don't have all the parts I need. I have also looked at Bikini Tops since I just want something easy for summer use.

I have been looking around for tops since my original post. I have seen Bestop D345682335 Trektop NX Bowless Soft Top - Black diamond, Dual-layer poly-cotton vinyl, Frameless Design, has any one had this top is? Is it a good quality? I will only use it for summer months.
