Default Soft Top Replacement

It has finally come time to replace my weathered soft top. Looking to replace soft top with same to better than quality of stock. I don't want to break the bank and like the price of the Barricade Premium replacement Sail Cloth top with tinted windows Black Diamond for 2008 JK...$469.99 w free shipping from Extreme Terrain. Does anyone have any negative or positive to say concerning the quality of this top? I have spyder shade that I use mostly all summer so want to keep feature of dropping the top. Also, don't want to spend more than $600. Is there another top in the same price range that is better?

Check Craigslist or the for sale section of the forum.

You'll want to go to the 10+ style with hardware if you can. I've not seen a decent used top pop up recently, the last 2dr one was listed at $1000, but it was "brand new".

Bestop?

Definitely Bestop. Check Quadratec, you can just buy the top and transfer the hardware/header from the old top.

Also who the hell buys a used factory soft top that's "like new" for $1000? Great way to throw your money in the trash.

I looked at Quadratec and the Bestop start at $1000, that is why I'm asking about the Barricade which is half the price...is the Barricade trash, quality bad, just trying to get a info from anyone that may have purchased and have first hand experience with this top. My factory top has lasted 9 years so if the quality is comparable or better than stock I will be happy with it.

That sure makes you wonder how it could be that much cheaper. Seems like an item though that you get what you pay for. That said, if you try it and it isn't to your liking, what's your downside.....$100 loss or so to resell it? Not end of the world.....although nobody likes losing $100. I think if I was in your position, I might find it worth the risk considering the cost of the other options out there. Hard to tell if you can trust reviews on that website or not.

$1000 for 9 years of covering your head and protecting you from the elements sounds worth it to me?.....

Don't go buying junk man. I have no experience with them, but Bestop is undeniably the best. They make the factory tops too. Just go on Craigslist and look for a used factory top. I see "nearly new" ones going for $250-500 depending on the seller.

X's 2 on checking Craigslist. I sourced my last two tops for my 2 door from there. Found brand new, unused take-off tops for $400. That included the surrounds.

Make that x3 for CL. I got a 2013 top, hardware and all, for well under $200! It's been a few years and it still looks and functions like new.

....the deals are out there. You just have to find them.

If I were buying new, then I would reuse my existing hardware and go with a Bestop non-premium (standard?). No question....Bestop.
