Default soft top w/ duster

Does anyone know if you can have a duster cover on, and still be able to raise and lower the soft top? I saw someone else has raised the question, but it didn't really go anywhere. I understand that I couldn't attach the rear of the soft top with it on, but thought I could use the soft top as sort of a bikini with the duster combo in showers. Plus the duster would help hide things in the trunk. I still have the hard top on, so I can't tell if the soft top bars would rip through the duster when raised or lowered.

I seriously doubt you could use both simultaneously. To my understanding they use basically the same mounting points, hopefully someone with a duster will chime in, i dont personally have one... ...yet.

Well if the soft top was left up it may be possible. You would have two layers of fabric stuffed under the rear corners though. They may not both fit. The duster would have to come off to lower the soft top.

Its better to just run a duster and a bikini or safari top.

I am currently running the safari top and a duster. I seriously doubt there would be enough room in the rail for both belts, duster and soft top. With the dimpling issues that I have had with the duster (Bestop) I wouldn't even try to get the soft top to fit. The other issue is that the duster uses the soft top "bar" that goes across the tailgate opening. There would be no way, without some serious sowing, to get the duster and the rear window to work together.

oh yeah, i didnt even think about the bows receding into the tub when you lower the top, there's no way it would allow you to lower it.

Oh well. Thanks for input.

I guess I'll save my money till next summer, and get an actual bikini, duster, and hopefully wraparound windjammer for 4 door.

Woooaaa....hold it guys...

I have a softtop & the Bestop deck cover Duster, Quadratec # 11154 02305 07 - is this the item were talking about ? if so I GOTTA CORRECT ALL the posts above.

Yes, you can only secure one or other in the rear chanel rails, either the duster or the soft top corner sails, but you CAN raise and lower the soft top with the duster in place - no problems.

My soft top stays down in all weather except HEAVY rain or snow, where I then raise and secure it, and do have to leave off the rear corner sails and roll-up & velcro them away. Sure the soft top isnt as stretched and tight as when corner sails are secured, and I wouldnt drive coast to coast like that, but when the rain stops, the top goes back down again.

Yes, the Duster does cover and hide the trunk contents extremely well and does protect the trunk in rain showers, water runs straight off.

The Duster definitely works very well for me, but not everyone wants a topless Jeep 95% of the time but the interior gets dirty real quick

You may be right, on the 4dr, but i know it wont work on a 2dr, when you lower the top the bows go a good 6-8 inches down inside the rear tub and nearly rest on the fender wells, there isnt any way they could do that with the duster in place. I havent really payed any attention to 4drs with the to down to examine the bow resting places, but if you have both, then you would know! I dont have a duster, so the tailgate and siderails are better covered by someone else as above.

I guess the question we then need to ask the OP is, do you have a 2dr or a 4dr? as apparently it can be done on the 4dr.

I do have the 4 door. And in another month I will be running top down almost all the time. And if it rains, I'm only driving 10 miles to and from work, and not on the highway, so the soft top a little lose wouldn't kill me.

So I guess I'll give it a try, unless someone jumps on and says I'm crazy!
