Default Soft Tops - Mopar vs. Bestop

Hey everyone
-I'd appreciate any feedback regarding softtops for a 2009 Wrangler X Unlimited.
I currently have the 3 piece modular hardtop that I purchased it with and would like to get a soft top.
Does anyone have any advice on the Mopar ($1,400) soft top versus the Bestop ($900)?
I would like to retract the top like the stock soft-top and fold it down, but I'm not sure if the Bestop version allows for this.
Thanks!
Scott

As far as I know Bestop makes all the factory tops for Jeep / Mopar so save the mark up and buy it direct from a Bestop dealer.

Oh yeah? I was hopingn to be able to install all the same parts as the one that comes with the Jeep when you buy it, but it sounds like that's not an option?
Just looking at the pictures/instructions, it looks like the aftermarket mopar retracts and the besttop doesn't, but it's hard to tell.
I appreciate your help!

I thought I remember reading on here that the Bestop top is not as high of quality and does not fit as well as the Mopar top even though Bestop makes both.

I would look in the for-sale section or in craigslist for a soft-top... I bought a mopar soft-top for just under $600 from someone that had the dual top package and only wanted the hardtop.

I miss the old tops so much, these new tops while they have some nice features (the front flip back thing is cool) its like streatching a dead octopus over teh jeep everytime you want it back up. My old TJ top just took one toss from the rear and it would be just about done. This stinkin wet noodle of a top makes me look like a jackamoe everytime im raising it, lol.

Oh and yep to my knowledge the new tops are sunriders by bestop.

Cheers!

I pretty sure that the Bestop replacement top uses their snap in latch header instead of the Mopar header that's built into the fabric. I have a Bestop Safari top on my Jeep and the hardware on header is always comming loose, and it's super tight to put on. But for half the price for a full top, I'd probably just get the Bestop.

I've been researching these. From what I can tell the Mopar Sunrider *should* have the retractable front half (hence "Sunrider" and hence the extra coin). The sales guy said the Bestop is the same quality etc.. (and yeah they make both).
