Default Solutions yet to Speedometer with larger tires

I know this has been discussed over and over, but I have never actually seen any solution. Has anyone found a unit that will reset the speedometer yet?

No off the shelf units will do it yet.

On a side note...how do you have 5.38 gears on order when they don't make them? Is there a company about to come out with 5.38's, and who is it?

Either Red Rock or Northridge carries a manufacturer that is releasing some, I can't remember who it was. I remember one of those guys stating it on a thread here.

O.K. Technically not really on order, but the 4x4 shop is ordering them as soon as something comes available. I believe it was Northridge that is going to get some from Alloy USA in August.

I believe you can get them for the rear dana 44 but the front requires a stubby. That's what is not available yet.

Alloy will have 5.38's soon.

Has anybody tried a superlift truespeed for speedo calibration yet?

I've asked that before, everyone just kind of ignored it, so good luck.

I know they don't have one for the JK yet but...

I had the Superlift TruSpeed on my TJ. constant problems. First One was bad so they replaced it. The second one would need calibrating every 4-6 months for some strange reason? Not sure how it would constantly get off. Was told it was user error.

I hope when the time comes when I need one either there are more options out there or people have nothing but good things to say about the TruSpeed.

Default Stupid Question??

I was wondering if changing the gears to accomodate the larger tires does anything to the speedo reading? I am not sure where the speedo picks up the RPM, if its from the tranny, it should change when the gearing is modified. But if its on the tires or axels gearing changes won't make any difference.

Anyone who has changed the gears should know...

If it does change, what gearing change would result in an appropriate speedo reading for a tire size increase from 31" to 35"?

Gear change did not affect the speedo reading on my Jeep. I had 35's on mine with the stock 4.10 gears, and the speedo was off 9.3-9.4%. After changing to 5.13's, the speedo is still off 9.3-9.4%.
