I recently mounted my brand new High Lift Jack on my Rock Brawler Bumper and not it is putting rust stains on my Jeep!!

We have had a lot of rain over the past week and now all the hidden unpainted parts of the jack are rusting and the rust 'juice' is leaking down on my tailgate and bumper. It looks nasty. I will clean it up after the daily rains are gone.

Any suggestions? Should I take this back and ask for another one?

I'll post some after work... just looks like rust spots from the jack. If you look down the inside of the handle it looks like rust has formed from a puddle of water being inside it. IT's also rusting the jacking mechanism where there appears to be little to no paint.

You do need yo grease the hell out of the pins and the work the jack a lot to get the grease to cover everything well, otherwise the pins will rust out fast and the jack wont work properly. I leave mine in the garage and only mount it to the Jeep when heading out on the trail.

Seems odd that it would be rusting out that bad, iv had one of mine for over 10 years, I leave it out all the time and it's still in great shape no rust. I wouldn't recommend a heavy grease if you plan to leave it outside. The grease will act like a dust magnet and could act as bad as rust.

Mine is doing the same. I plan on taking it apart and painting everything that can rust. No need to return it as they all have unpainted surfaces somewhere that will form rust.

Mines on my bumper as well and it too has rust. I spray wd40 on it constantly. I may bed line it at one point too.

Bedliner is no advisable, I have seen this tride before. The problem becomes that there is too much friction and the pins do not slide. This becomes a saftey issue because the jeep can drop in the middle of being jacked up.

FNHOSTILE

+1 on the Hi-Lift rusting easily. I had mine out like twice in the snow/salt last Winter and it started rusting right away. I think religous use of WD-40 and a wire brush, paint and some grease every Spring should help out alot.
