spacers & spring compression?
You have a point, but in that assertion you are already grossly exceeding the weight rating of the vehicle and overloading the carrying cappacity of the spring. In that case if the spring were overcompressed and damaged it would not be the fault of the spacer but that of the owner who overloaded the vehicle in the first place.
Don't be sorry, my gf calls me a bonehead everyday!

I have PMed you.
Personally I don't see bump stops as a protection of the springs, they are more of a insurance to protect your other components of teh vehicle, such as shocks, brake line, and body panel in case your tires flexed on to the body and etc...

Well I had the feeling this was more of a community discussion, since it was posted IN the community and all. Kinda makes others feel left out. That's alright though. My dollars can work the same way.
You are right. Sorry.
This is what I PMed him with..
Basically by adding 1" or less spacers to your rig is to level out your rig, and really won't make that much of difference on the springs compression. You won't damage the springs by over compressing them with our vehicle weights. Unless you kept fully compressed for long period of times and cause memories to the springs.
After all bumpstops gets compressed as well when u go offroad.
I have known people go wheelin with no bump stops or limited straps, and their springs are fully compress every time they flex. After all springs will eventually sagged in years, and there is no way telling when.
I hope this would answer some of your concerns.
Best regards
Dave.
