Default Spacers / Wheels or both

New to Jeeps here been reading forum and searching for answer but still a little confused hoping someone could clear this up for me.

I would like to widen my stance out some and black out my rims though I'm not certain if I'm going to be happy with the look of painting the stock rims. So my question is if I get spacers install them then decide I would rather just get aftermarket rims. Will the spacers just go to waist since correct me if I'm wrong. I can get the rims with a offset and not need or want the spacers anymore. Or are most aftermarket rims commonly spaced about the same as factory and need them anyway

Will probably get spidertrax 1.5 spacers and run the stock Rubi 32s until its tire change time then bump up a little.

With the correct backspacing, an aftermarket wheel wont require a spacer. If you decide to use the factory wheels and run a bigger tire, then you will need spacers

Correct, the spacers will not be needed if the aftermarket rims you're purchasing has a backspace of at least 4.5".

Each Wheel manufacturer will have various bolt patterns and backspacing sizes so just make sure you do your research to avoid headaches when the time comes to put them on.

Oh, the bolt pattern for the JK is 5x5.

Good Luck!

I just added spacers for the same reason. I like the new stance and the install was easy. Like others have said they will sell quick on this forum. Not really interested in spending $$ for new wheels and tires just yet. This will hold me over for now.

The blacked out stock rims really look good. How much is involved in bead lining them? and how well will it hold up to wear?

All in the prep!!! I used a scotch brite pad (fine-green) and scuffed them up good, then cleaned them with brake cleaner and soap and water. Once they dried I used 3 coats of self etching primer and sanded in between coats. Make sure to use some quarters in the lug holes to keep the paint/liner out the threads. Quarters fit perfect!! Then I did 4 coats of rust oleum spray bed liner on. Total about 4 hours and a 6 pack! Just take you time and wait for coats to dry and make sure they are nice and clean before you start any coats of primer and liner!! I let them set overnight in the shop and mounted then up the next day. Hit them with the pressure washer about a week later and not one flake! Got around $50 into it (not counting the quarters).

Nice thing I figured is if I gash them up, it's an easy fix and I won't feel as bad as I would of if I had spent $$$$$$$$$ on aftermarket wheels!
