Default Spare mounted hi-lift bracket

Might be a bad idea for the stock tire carrier as it would be added weight on the tailgate. I have the Mopar rear bumper/tire carrier which doesn't have a hi-lift mount point so this worked out perfect for me and thought I would share.

I picked the mount up from a guy on ebay, user id jinxd79. It's pretty decent and ran me $39.99 shipped. I had to specify JK so he could drill it 5 on 5. He sells mostly 5 on 4.5.

It does rock side to side a little bit but it's an easy fix. There are two pieces, one that mounts behind the spare and one that slides into the other half. It's held together with a pin and the pin is too small which allows the motion. I plan on drilling it out to 1/2" and putting a better pin in to keep it from moving. Here are some more pics of the mount and the good thing is, it'll work on the stock tire carrier too.

Nothing to do with JKS. I through that on there because it was laying around and had nothing better to do with it.

Is it a 2" receiver. I was wondering if I could use it to mount a rack. I would just use the receiver portion. That way i could use it for two purposes. Couldn't really tell the size from the pix.

Sorry guys, it's not a 2".

Well, I take that back. Let me measure but if you cut the mounting plate off it just might work. I'll take a look and get back to you.

There is another person ebay selling 2" receiver hi-lift brackets though.

I wasn't really thinking about cutting anyting off. I just need the part that bolts to the spare tire mount. If it is a 2" receiver then my rack will slip right in.

Did an ebay search for jinxd79 but couldn't find him. Does he have a storefront.

Thanks for posting this! Will you keep the jack's bracket attached permanently? Because you could replace the pin with a nut and bolt and not only have a sturdier assembly, but make it a bit more secure.

Ah, I see what you are saying now. Still have to take a measurement but I think it's going to come up short.

PM'ing you.

I will keep it attached permanently and I thought about the bolt. However, the pin is good for quick release. You need to remove the front portion to get the spare off. A bolt would work, just take more time, that's all.
