Seems like there are some mixed reviews of the Daystar solution. Short of the Teraflex hinge, or AEV/Expedition One bumper/carrier type options, what are your thoughts?

I'll be hitting some trails around Colorado in a couple of weeks and don't want to create problems for myself.

35x12.50R18LT Cooper Discovery SST on stock tire carrier.

 

I used the teraflex spare mount without the hinge. The distance from the tailgate and the height are both adjustable. If I remember it was about 200 dollars.

 

I have the daystar stops (need to cut off one lug to fit correctly with my wheel/ tire combo) and the MBRP tail gate reinforcement kit and have never had any problems while wheeling.

Wheel/ tire combo: 315/75R16 on 16X8.5 -6 offset.

 

Are you on stock rims? I just got installed my 35's and need to do the same thing, but i'm on stock rims. How did you extend the third brake light?

 

No, I am on aftermarket rims. With my setup (read above) the third brake light is still visible (the tire only covers the bottom 1/4" of the light). Its a little harder for others to see but still legal.

 

I'm running the Daystar spacers. THey are not the best solution, but they are better than nothing and are inexpensive to boot.
