Default Spare tire carrier question

Hey guys, so I finally lifted and got 35's and my spare doesn't fit on the carrier. The backspacing on my wheels is 5.0 and my tire is a 325/65r18 (34.6X13.5) and the bottom of the tire is on the rear bumper leaving me unable to attach the tire to the bolts. what do you guys suggest I do? I know there are some relocation brackets to put on the stock one, but will that cause alot of strain on the carrier? I am not sure if bumpstops will help me, and I really wanted to wait to get a new rear bumper/tire carrier. My spare is sitting in my living room because it wont fit in the back unless I recline the back seat!! Need advice!!! Thanks guys!

I've seen folks use a wheel spacer to make up the difference.

Depends on when you are going to replace the rear bumper? If it is just going to be a few months a spacer on the rear wont hurt anything (i ran one for about 6 months with a 35"). Or you can ditch the rear seat completley and put the spare in the back. Or you can run without a spare (not recomended), if you go that route make sure it is somewhere a friend can get to so they can bring it to you. Last option is just remove or cut the stock bumper and it should fit fine.

yeah if the rear bumper is happening relatively soon i would just cut out a notch in the stock bumper to make it fit.

Well I had other stuff atop my list ahead of the rear bumper, what spacers do you recommend?

Well I can tell you what I know other people have had happen to them. The plastic mount is fine. But the weight of the tire and some heavy off roading has pulled on the tail gate to the point it has flexed and pulled it permanently out. I think if you drive on the street in may be fine. Hope this helps.

TF has a good one for a reasonable price. Pushes the tire out and up about 1" each.

The one form Expedition One bolts on and just moves it up, not out. You'll need to relocate or remove the high mount stop light with just about any one you choose though. I got the one from Warrior Products. Been working great for two years now.

So you guys think I should get the relocation bracket, and not the rubber bumpstops?
