Default Spare Tire Mount Issue

Hey guys, I picked up a matching spare and the offset caused it to stick too far away on the factory mount. So I picked up the adjustable rugged ridge steel Sparticus tire mount. I’ve got adjusted all the way back and the tire is still a 1/2” gap between the tire and the bump stops. Am I missing something or do I just need to get longer bump stops now? The Spartacus got me about an inch closer and it’s a solid mount but I’d still like to get the tire to rest on the stops. Any thoughts or ideas? I’d appreciate any links to the right solution.
Thanks!

Mount all the way back.

1/2” gap

Welcome .. This is what I used previously or you could just put a golf ball in the OEM be sure to tape the ball to the bumper to ensure it stays put.

Thanks! Did you end up upgrading the hinges? My new spare isn’t much heavier than the factory but now with this new mount I’m having some concerns.

They make longer bump stops, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it. With that mount, it won't be any more secure with them. I run that carrier on both my Jeeps, and neither have bumpers....no issues.

yeah I think you’re right. This mount doesn’t budge at all! Did you upgrade your hinges? The gate rattled a bit before the swap. I’m not sure if I just need to adjust the latch or if I’d be better off with new hinges?

I have the full Rugged Ridge mount+hinge. The hinge is a solid piece of metal that spans between the 4 stock hinge bolts on the tailgate and the 4 passenger side bolts on the mount. It provides significant strength over just the spare mount by itself.
