It's another variation of the auto locker and is "streetable".

Are you thinking about installing in the front or rear differential?

well what would be recommended? its going in a sahara. Im curious, because it comes across as being simple. seems like less to fail. And its alot less money.

Personally I am getting ready to install an Aussie locker in the front....my rear is limited slip.

They are pretty simple...no air lines or electrical components to break.

Double check with Spartan. I called about a front locker and they said the stock JK carrier wouldn't work but you can buy another for around $60 more. Yukon lockers however drop straight in without having to swap out the carrier.

You are correct I had to buy a new carrier when I had my spartan installed with my new gears.

Can't comment on Offroad ability since I haven't had a chance to use it yet but on road I don't notice it ( as I shouldn't since it's in the front)

I recently went through a phase of wanting one of these. What sold me on it was the fact that my buddy installed one and said it made a 200% difference off road. I was sold, so I started to research. After talking to friends who had them these are some of the repsonses I got.

Friend 1: "Man, it's 200% difference, it's badass!"
Friend 2: "Ya know, I didn't start rolling my jeep until I put that locker in".
Friend 3: " Be prepared to start replacing axles because they're gonna break"

I took their comments with a grain of salt then a week later at the off-road park I saw Friend 1 wheeling for the second time with his new lockers. I then heard a loud snap and their went his front driver side axle.

I came to the conclusion that I'm not ready to do that kind of damage to my jeep. Of course I feel that I am limited in off-roading ability from 3 things. 1. Lockers 2. Rock Sliders and 3. Crusher corners. However, I still go over some Gnarly shit as it is but I'm still able to drive home. So I think I'll wait till my jeep is paid off to drop in a locker, I'm only limited ever so slightly and that's fine with me.

Happy wheeling!

While my axles were under the knife I also installed; sleeves, gussets, lca skids and also upgraded the u joints. It's obviously not bullet proof but knowing the limitations i carry spare parts and dont mash the skinny pedal. But you're right it is increasing the chances of breakage.
