Default specific question about aev 2.5 lift

ok when looking at the different aev lifts I have a question. I see the difference between the 2.5 and the 3.5 I am wondering does the jk need an adj front track bar at 2.5" and the adj brackets? or are they not necessary at the 2.5"? or are they not included because the 2.5 is the econo kit?

I am just trying to get a price for a completed lift kit. I am putting on 35" tires and want to make sure it is set up the best way possible.
with the jk I do not know where the break point is at for needing the extra parts like the drop brackets and adj track bars.

so anyone that can give me a heads up would be great

oh yea does the aev lift leave you nose down or level out a jku?

Thanks
Ten

A 'complete' lift is subjective, and what 'you' do or do not need is open to debate. It's all about price vs height vs personal opinion.

At 2.5", many kits do not include components to recenter the front axle or correct the low caster, and many people who buy those kits never worry about it. If 'you' don't like the front axle being off-center, then add an adjustable trackbar. If the handling is too flighty, add some form of caster correction. But you won't know until after it is lifted.

As the lift height increases, the want/need any extra components increases, which is why taller lifts generally include more components.

The AEV Geometry Correction Brackets will improve your ride quality, a definite plus for only $99. The adjustable track bar isn't needed, the axle is only off approximately 1/4 inch. I've seen some pictures level, others nose down. It might all depend on aftermarket accessories.

Default Aev 2.5

Hey Ten,
I put the 2.5 AEV kit on last summer and am running 35" Mickey Thompson's and am very happy with the setup. I did add the Geometry Correction Front Control Arm Drop Brackets after a month because I run a lot of washboard road. The improvement was worth the upgrade. No other changes were made or needed in my opinion.
The cellphone picture is from today after I created an additional parking spot at the doctor's office. You can see I run pretty level. I hope this helps. Click image for larger version

I just ordered this kit today and I opted to add the geo brackets, a rock krawler adjustable front trackbar, teraflex front swaybar links/discos and the Northridge hardware kit. Got the geo brackets after reading numerous posts about the night and day difference in handling. Got the trackbar because I'm just anal and I know even being a 1/4 of an inch off would bother me; not to mention it's much stronger than stock. I've read on multiple accounts that people don't like the front swaybar link brackets that the kit comes with. I wanted to be able to disconnect as well so I opted for new links rather than use the brackets. Since everything will already be unbolted to install the lift, it only made sense to get the hardware kit to prevent any death wobble in the future.

I have the AEV 2.5" lift my axle is off by about 3/8. I didn't get a front track bar but will eventually. I did get the Rancho drop brackets instead of the AEV as they are much beefier and easier to install. I would suggest those as well as a set of rear sway bar links or discos for the front. To me those are the must haves. The track bar can wait. I love the way it looks and rides. The lift will level you out. My front is sitting an inch lower than the rear but that's because I have a heavy bumper and winch ~200lbs up front and nothing in the rear.

Here is stock suspension with 33s

Stock suspension with 33s and heavy bumper + winch.
