Speedo calibrator and oil change
How often do I need to change the oil in my speedometer calibrator?
Just kidding... I'm due for my first oil change... it says so right on the dash every time I turn on the engine. Do I need to program the Jeep/speedo back to stock before every oil change, just so they can reset the dash message? I hope not. I called Hypertec and the guy had no clue.

I guess it depends where you go. Personally I don't bring my vehicles to the dealership for oil changes, prefer Mr Lube, and I just do the on/off key thing after they're done to clear the dash light (it's in the manual).
I guess the dealership may have a way to clear the code by plugging into your Jeep's computer, in which case you'd probably want to reset the options to stock (just to be safe, never know what the hell they're going to 'fix' when they're in there).

turn the key to the on position....
step on the gas pedal 3 times within 10 seconds....
turn the key to the off position..... this should reset the oil change indicator....
(don't start the Jeep when turning to the "on" position when you step on the gas pedal...)

What light?
Is it an 08 and above thing?
Poor me.. No damn air pressure reminders and no oil change light.. Guess I should sell it so I can get all the good stuff!
I'll have to admit part of my not waiting for an 08 was the tire pressure sensors, and that I couldn't wait anymore...

Yes I got an oil change today at one of the quick lube places. They said they reset the message but then I realized they just changed the display to the trip meter to hide it.
Thanks for the instructions. I tried finding it in the manual and couldn't find it.
BTW...
I changed the oil once (on my TJ) a few years ago... made a mess and the oil I drained is still sitting in a pan in my garage. (how do you prevent the oil in the filter from dripping all over the engine when you take it off?). Anyway, today I bought a grease gun to try to lube the suspension myself. We'll see if that will be a one time shot too.
