Default Speedometer calibration

I have a 2011 Sahara Unlimited and I am going from the stock wheels 31" to 33"'s. I know my speedo won't be accurate but any idea how off if will be? Is there a way to have it recalibrated or do most of you guys just deal with it being off? Also any idea how bad the mpg will drop?

So what size tire did you buy? 33" can mean several different things. BTW the stock tires are 32.1 inches. So if you have a true 33" you will be off about 3%. Or 70mph indicated would actually be 72mph.

New tires are 295/65R18. I did a calculation and they're 33.08". Guess the speedo really won't be off by enough to worry about it, huh? Thanks for your input.

Well if the transmission seems to be shifting fine I wouldn't worry about it. I can't wait to "upgrade" to 265/70/18. I think they come out to 32.7, again not a big deal but nice upgrade to the DD. I'm staying narrow for that ever so slight mpg benefit and I drive to alot of snowy places in the winter.

The stock tires are definitely not 32.1". You're going by the stated size on the tire, which is always over optimistic. They're more like 31" tires. With that said, the 33" tires will likely be about 32" tall. So in the end the difference is still about 3%.

Thanks guys. I haven't installed the new tires yet so not sure on how the transmission will feel. Hope to have them put on by the weekend.
