sPod 8 switch - basic 8 switch pod or new touch screen
In looking into the sPod 8 switch kits, I see that you can either get the more "original design" 8 switch pod or the more "high tech" version touch screen.
What are ya'lls thoughts? Would you go with the more conventional switch pod or move up to the more high tech touch screen version? Whichever you pick, please state why.
Thanks

I just had this battle with myself actually. I ended up going with the standard rockers. Something more satisfying about physically flipping a switch to make something react over touching a screen. Not to mention it's a lot cheaper to replace a rocker switch should one go bad rather than replacing an entire touch screen panel should something go wrong.
Just my take on it but thought I'd chime in since I just purchased one.

The spod with touch screen is 720.00 and thats without bluetooth-from Spod directly.
Northridge4x4 has the switch pro for 431.00, also has the Spod w\touch screen for 638 plus you need the bluetooth module for 115.00 to equal what the switch-pro is.
Both are almost the same internals as both are controlled by MOSFET switches.

Great question! That is why we have so many options. With over 37 years of Jeeping experience, we are familiar with the needs of the offroader.
So whether it's our 6 circuit or the fancy 8 circuit systems, they both are capable of handling 30 amps per circuit!
I agree, it's really nice to be able to reach up during a bouncy ride over washboard roads and hit a physical switch!
I personally run the hard switch version, but I also run all three styles in my Jeep JK (because that's how I can demo at the shows).
The other cool thing is that the 8 switch SE system comes standard with dual lit LED switches! This way you can add or change out the rockers for the custom LASER marked ones!
You can personalize your panel to your liking.
The hard switch version does have programmable features for each switch, they are:
Strobe
Flash
The touchscreen has a few more features:
Dimming
Momentary
Flash
Strobe
Switch linking
Back light dimming control
Battery voltage monitoring
Three lines of text for switch ID
SE board temperature monitoring
Up to 32 circuits can be controlled with one touchscreen
The new HD harsh environment panel features are (limited qty's for the month of December):
Dimming
Momentary
Flash
Strobe
Switch linking
Back lighting color control
Status lights dimming control
Bluetooth
Up to 32 circuits can be controlled with one HD
The Bluetooth App for the SE:
Dimming
Momentary
Flash
Strobe
Switch linking
Switch color control
Three lines of text for switch ID

SE board temperature monitoring

The sPOD is not a generic system. We design, engineer each system to a specific vehicle, make, year and model. So when you order an sPOD system, it will be for you're exact vehicle with instructions that are not generic, but specially for your Jeep.
Let me know if you need more info on our systems.
Have a great day!

I had my mind all made up on the sPod until I saw and began researching the Switch Pros unit. It flat out does whatever the sPod will do, and will do it much cheaper than the comparable unit. Consider, too, how the newest sPods mimic the form and functionality of the Switch Pros design. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Depending on how you feel about generic/cloned products, you'll find a number of sPod-like units available on eBay for less than $200 that may be worth your consideration.
