Default springs - leveling kit ????

Ok, Ive read for hours about the different springs on the wrangler from the factory and about the teraflex leveling kits.

I have 17s in front and 59s in back.

I plan to upgrade to 285/70/17 tires (~33") and would like to eliminate the rake my Jeep has.

I want it 'level' not high in the front and I have no plans to go taller than the 33"tires.

So, should I change the springs to 19/60s and do nothing else?

Or, 19/60s and a teraflex leveling kit with spacers?

Or, just go with the teraflex performance leveling kit with the springs it comes with?

Anyone know how the springs that come with the performance kit compares to the factory 19/60s?

I don't think you will gain much if anything changing your springs out. Maybe 1/2 an inch or more? If it were me I would go with the Teraflex Performance Lift. I went from 14/55's to 18/59's and just got a Teraflex Leveling Spacer Kit. Going to install kit in a few weeks. Pleased so far.

You could also just run the puck leveling kit. You can run 33-34's with that kit and it would level yours out as well. New for around $130.

You can get used springs for cheap. I roughly got about $100 in springs and a slightly used leveling kit for $110. So I'm in it purty cheep!

If I go with the leveling kit (that uses the spacers and not springs) on my 17 springs, will it sit level?

Of course, if i add a winch and bumper later on, then the 17s might squat and bring back the rake?

Yes it will sit level using the TF kit with your stock 17 springs. Two 1" pucks up front and one 1" pick in the rear, perfect for a 33" tire.

Correct again, it WILL squat if you add anything heavy up front. Then you'll be spending $400 for the TF Performance Leveling Kit to bring it back up.

I made the mistake of buying the TF spacer leveling kit first, then added a bumper which brought my rake back. Ended up doing the 19/60 swap to level it back up. Once I put my winch on this spring I'm expecting to see the rake again though :(. I should have originally bought the TF Performance Leveling Kit...

Agreed! I figured I'd have to switch out mine down the road when I add a bumper and winch. Mine is a slow build, but then aren't they all.

Thanks all.

So, let me make sure this is on track.

If I go with the teraflex performance leveling kit with springs, it will be sufficient to carry a winch and bumper (modestly heavy) without the rake coming back?

Another question, if going with the teraflex performance leveling kit, will i need to upgrade shocks? or anything else?

I could not tell you. You could call Teraflex and see what they might suggest. As for shocks, I replaced my Sport ones with Rubi 4 door and am very pleased with the ride. You can get in cheap with stock for around $100. There are however Bilstein's members have raved about.

You could always get Rubi shocks for cheap, run those for awhile and switch out to a better option. I do think you can run stock shocks with that kit too.

I'm building mine in steps and on the cheep! Everything in my signature including the leveling kit I just purchased I'm under $1300.00!! I have to upgrade as the boss lets me.

Would love to see pics when you are done.

I have a '12 COD Rubicon with hard top and switched my 14/57 coils with Eibach's leveling spring and added 2" in front and 1" in back. That is with the AEV steel bumpers, when I add a winch I expect to lose 1/2" up front. I got the spring around Christmas for about $230-ish. Very happy with stance and feel confident fitting 33's or close to 34's with some spacers. The springs also improved ride offroad and took some dive out when braking heavy on road.

Hey Joe...Is that a song? Ha! I cracked a joke! Sorry had too. Anyway I started a thread with 2 dr's with upgraded stock springs. I know you have a 4 dr. Thought you might want to check out.

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...-247152/page4/

Alose check out show off your leveling kit with pics. If you want to get an idea.

You can also search for "teraflex leveling kits" I have found several threads with members showing before and after pics as well.

Man, there are sooo many options. You could even get a lift and use shock extenders as well, whether it be a budget boost or coil spring.
