Default Staun internal bead locks??

Does anyone have any experience with these?

These were referenced in a different post. They have definitely caught my interest. In concept, this looks like a better solution to holding a tire bead at low pressure than bolts.

Not sure if I can post the link directly. Google for “Staun internal bead locks”, the site comes right up.

I was in JV when they were tested. The tire was completely flat and we could not get it to pop a bead, even when pulling it sideways with a winch.

I was at 4 wheel parts yesterday and the counter guy swore they didn't sell them because they were not legal in California. Before I call, does anyone have any info? They're a little pricey but worth the cost.

According to Stauns website they are legal - I believe they give the name of the california official that made that observation. They appear to be undetectable. So, not sure it matters regardless.

Have the idiot at 4 wheel parts show you the law that states they are illegal. There is no code in CA that talks about beadlocks, whether internal or external.

I just checked their web site and they sell them online. I can't comment why he said they were illegal. Next question - for my wheel manufacturer - is there a problem drilling another hole for the Staun's valve stem?
