Appreciate the help everyone. Think I’ll just leave it as is for now. The steering is fine just noticed a slight bit of play In it and thought I’d try to tighten it up as it’s my wife’s daily driver. What do you guys consider too much play? And should the steering wheel return to center on its own just like every other vehicle? Mine will turn back about halfway then it’s up to the driver to turn the wheel the rest of the way until the vehicle straightens up.

Just had my box rebuilt by RedNeck Ram. Made a huge difference. Drives like new again. Hoping to get the ram installed this week, or next. 2013 2-door with 127,000 miles and 35s. Had almost 1/4 turn of slack at dead center, now it steers almost as well as my new truck. (New truck has much narrower street tires).

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts afterwards and compare impressions. I haven't been able to really give mine a workout off road yet, but I do have initial thoughts about it which I'd like to compare when you're done (and in a separate thread )

Will do.

I'm planning on going to AJPs Polar Bear Run at Hidden Falls in January, that will likely be my first time out in the rocks with it.

We have our second baby coming any day now, so that could put a delay on my ram install plans, but we shall see.

Back in the day we were taught the way to adjust the screw was to loosen the jam nut and adjuster screw, turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to driver and then turn the adjuster screw in until you just felt contact. Lightly snug the jam but, then turn the wheel to 90 degrees passenger. Tighten or loosen the screw again until it just lightly bottoms and fully tighten the jam nut. If that doesn't eliminate the excessive play the box is scrap.
