Default Steering issue

I did wheel this weekend on pretty tough trail, I had my steering wheel well center before and now the steering wheel is no longer center.

I notice that my steering damper (OEM) did leak, so I change it (a friend of mine did have one spare ) The steering damper did have some mark like the tie rode did press it against the axle barcket...

I'm light on the pedal and never try to force the way up, I inspected my tie rode and nothing I didn't hit it, nor bent it, I did the same with the drag link with an equal result.

I'm puzzle what could lead in this issue?

If the steering damper is damaged it will just make the steering twitchy or loose or however you want to describe it.

I'd start just by going through the normal steering wheel centering procedure. It is super easy, just take a few minutes and a little trial & error.
There is a write-up someplace on the site for it.

Just recenter it and get the lights off. Something moved you just cant see it.

Thanks, anyway I will re-center the steering wheel, but I just wonder what's going on, how could the steering wheel off center like this without anything I noticed or hit.

The steering damper was just dead no resistance at all.

Check your track bar it probably has shifted a little because of the small amount of play in the bolt hole. Or maybe from a lot of play. The hole can start to grow over time.

Your trackbar moving will show up in the steering wheel. All of the sudden your draglink is to long or to short as the alxe moves left or right.

Fairly common for this to happen, lots of us have run into it. Even if you can not visually 'see' anything bent, doesn't mean everything is straight.

Here is a quote from WOL from another thread concerning this issue:
tie rod is most likely bent just a bit. that or, if you've hit a rock with one wheel pretty hard, could be that you bent your draglink turn buckle just a bit or spun the splines on your sector shaft a bit. been there - done that with all 3 on my JK.
And the thread it came from, if you're interested
