Steering Issue - Please Help
Hi. So I’m not entirely sure if this is the right part of the forum, but I was hoping to get some ideas from you all about a steering issue. My 2017 Jeep Wrangler jk rubicon (lifted, on 40s, bunch of new fun stuff for rock crawling) was hit last night while it was parked. While we are going through insurance, this is my baby and I’m obsessively trying to figure out what went wrong with my steering. The front wheels won’t turn at all, but the steering wheel doesn’t have any resistance. Any ideas of what it could be? The drag link was also broken off, not at the mounting point, but higher than that; I’m not sure if that plays a role in what’s wrong, but thought I’d include it just in case.
Also, it turns out when a mustang is going fast enough, it is able to push a parked jeep onto a curb and into a tree.

If your drag link was broken, then there in lies the issue. The drag link ties the steering box (through the sector shaft which is connected to the pitman arm which is connected to the drag link) to the knuckle which turns the wheels. If that DL was broken then you can turn the steering wheel all day long and see no reaction in the tires.
